Before you start house hunting, take a few moments to make a wish list with your family members. Make sure to include all of the features you want – and don’t want – in your next home. Make sure to reference those items that are a “Have to Have” or a “Like to Have” to ensure that you’re checking off all of those mandatory boxes as you search for a home.
Items to consider and include are:
Shopping, restaurants, entertainment
New build or existing home
Style (colonial, ranch, etc. )
Number of bedrooms
Number of bathrooms
Fireplace (wood, gas)
Next, make a list of features that are deal breakers. Don’t get to harsh – you may find that you can leave without a home office if you can afford to buy something in your preferred neighborhood. Most buyers don’t get everything on their wish list, but try to check off as many of the boxes that they can.
Another thing that you may wish to do before you start shopping for a home is to get pre-qualified for your home purchase. Then you’ll know exactly what price range you qualify for. Besides, if there’s multiple offers, a seller is more likely to select you over someone else that hasn’t started to obtain their financing. If we can help you, give us a call.
